Sofia Kenin from the US made it into the next round after defeating the US American Hailey Baptiste with 7-5, 6-3. Elena Svitolina from Ukraine, who won over Ann Li from the US with 6-0, 6-4, made it to the next round as well.
Another player from the US, Serena Williams, made it into the round of 16. Williams won over Danielle Collins with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over her compatriot. Serena Williams continues to chase her 24th major triumph.
The world’s number one from Australia, Ashleigh Barty, did not make it into the next round. Barty has suffered from hip problems and had to give up her second-round match at 1:6, 2:2 against the Polish Magda Linette. Barty won the French Open in 2019 and did not participate last year because of the pandemic.
The world’s number three, Aryna Sabalenka, from Belarus, was one of the highest-seeded players, lost to Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova with 4:6, 6:2, 0:6 after a weak performance.

Novak Djokovic, the world number one, defeated Pablo Cueva from Uruguay with 6-3, 6-2, 6-4 and made it to the next round.
Dominik Koepfer from Germany won over Taylor Fritz from the US with 6-3, 6-2, 3-6, 6-4. Koepfer’s next opponent is going to be the Swiss Roger Federer.
French Open’s top favourite Rafael Nadal from Spain won against Frenchman Richard Gasquet with 6-0, 7-5, 6-2 on Thursday night when it was also Nadal’s 35th birthday. A happy belated birthday Rafa from the Wizpert team!
The win of Philipp Kohlschreiber against Aslan Karatsev from Russia was a bit of a surprise. Kohlschreiber once ranked 16th in the world and now ranked 132nd. Nevertheless, the German won over the Australian Open semifinalist, Karatsev with 6:3, 7:6 (7:4), 4:6, 6:1.
Another German who made it to the next round is Alexander Zverev. The world number six won his third-round duel against Laslo Djere from Serbia with 6-2, 7-5, 6-2.
The world number two Daniil Medvedev, reached the last 16 of the French Open for the first time. In just 1:38, the Russian beat Reilly Opelka from the US with 6-4, 6-2, 6-4.
