Greta Thunberg, the face of the environmental activism criticized the tennis professional Roger Federer on his involvement with the Swiss bank institute Credit Suisse. Roger is the bank’s brand ambassador.
With the hashtag #RogerWakeUpnow, Greta Thunberg makes the world aware of a court case against twelve young Swiss climate activists led by Credit Suisse. The activists broke into a branch of the bank institute and played tennis there. The climate activists accuse Credit Suisse of financing companies that rely on the exploitation of fossil fuels on a large scale.
Since 2016 @CreditSuisse has provided $57 BILLION to companies looking for new fossil fuel deposits – something that is utterly incompatible with #ClimateAction @RogerFederer do you endorse this? #RogerWakeUpNow pic.twitter.com/ED1fIvb4Cr

Federer’s reaction was a written statement saying, that he is “very aware of his responsibility as a private person, as an athlete and as an entrepreneur”. He wants to “use this privileged position to talk to my sponsors about important issues”. However, Credit Suisse was not mentioned in his statement.
