It seems that Rafael Nadal won’t take part in the US Open this year. Instead, he seems to prefer staying in Europe and competing at the Madrid Open.
Feliciano Lopez, the tournament director of the Madrid Open, shared on Twitter that Nadal will participate at the tennis tournaments in Spain’s capital starting on September 14th. Rafa replied to that tweet “See you in Madrid in September”.
With the Madrid Open starting just one day after the US Open finals and given Nadal’s tweet, it seems very unlikely that tennis fans will be able to see him on the tennis court in New York this year.
