French Open’s quarter-finals

The Slovenian tennis player Tamara Zidansek reached the semi-finals at the French Open after defeating Paula Badosa from Spain on Court Philippe Chatrier.

The world’s number 86 won against Badosa with 7-5, 4-6, 8-6 in 2:26 hours. It is the first time for the Slovenian to make it past the second round at any of the four Grand Slam tournaments.

Zidansek will face the Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in the semi-finals. 

Anastasia is the winner of the match against Yelena Rybakina of Kazakhstan Pavlyuchenkova defeated Rybakina with 7-6, 2-6, 7-9 and reached a Grand Slam semifinal for the first time in her career, same as Zidansek. At the start of the match, Rybakina took command and secured a clear tie-break win 7:6. In the second set, Rybakina committed too many errors and Pavluychenkova fought her way back and quickly leveled the match 6:2 . In the decisive 3rd set,  both players fought or every ball despite the strain. The experienced Pavlyuchenkova had the better strength in the end and decided the match after more than 2:30 hours of play with a break to 9:7.

The German Alexander Zverev made it to the semi-finals of the French Open for the first time as well. Zverev won against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina from Spain with 6-4, 6-1, 6-1. On Friday, Zverev will play against Stefanos Tsitsipas from Greece. Tsitipas, the world’s number 5, defeated the Russian Daniil Medvedev, world number with 2, 6-3, 7-6 (7-3), 7-5.
