The French Open 2020 on TV

The organisers of the French Open seem to have changed their mind as they no longer rule out the possibility of holding the tournament without an audience. The president of the French Tennis Federation FFT, Bernard Giudicell, said that “organising the tournament behind closed doors would allow, the servicing of the television rights to take place, which is a part of the business model that should not be ignored“.

As shared with you last week, Roxana Maracinean, Minister of Sport, made a clear statement that the French Open won’t take place without allowing spectators. The money received out of TV rights makes up for more than a third of the French Open’s revenue. The organisers of the French Open had already announced that money for previously purchased tickets would be refunded.
